This video fails to mention the bad aspects of these supposed "golden education systems" in other countries. Education as a whole has its issues and we need to learn how to fix them, but we shouldn't be ignoring the good the US education system is doing.

They attacked the racial achievement gap by attacking the racial curriculum gap. Brilliant! And the more teachers and admin that look like them add to their psycho-social development also. One thing that has been left out is how the parents feel when they see Black people in positions of authority at their kids school. My kids had a 6 foot 6inch 220lbs principal. He was very active in the community, intelligent and great with the staff parents and students. When he left it was this sense of distrust when I walked in like who is going to fill that position like him?!

I remembered Mdm Ros from my day as a Seconday 3 student. She taught us Geography. I remembered her lessons to be fun and engaging. Even though she can be a little fierce sometimes. I can feel her passion for the subject and enjoyed her lesson. I still remember some things that she taught many years ago, like how to draw the formation of an oxbow lake :P

This is true, but why are they going down the procedural route? I suspect the answer has to do with the fact that math educators actually make the mistake of teaching the simplified version of a concept first rather than taking the time to do it long hand. Math is supposed to make things simpler, but a pupil will not quite grasp this if they are not first familiarized with the conceptual framework which often is spelled out long hand.

The accent is not the main problem. You can have people with so strong Irish or Scottish accent, that BBC must subtitle them, and yet you don't feel they are stupid or not credible. The problem was what she was saying and how she was behaving.

@@richardli4038 If she was white, I would interpret her behaviour as rude, but because she's black, I should say it was polite? There were discrepancies in her story and parts were in disagreement with other witnesses and evidence. If she was white, I would choose to disbelieve her, but because she's black, I should believe her? Don't take me wrong, I understand cultural differences and social-economic disadvantage. I've talked to many people who were poorly educated, yet i had no problem to believe them. I also know that for example Brittons, Germans, etc. have different body language then Italians, Arabs, etc. What would be excesive gestures for a German, is OK for an Italian. What would be too many words for a German, is normal for an Arab. I would take stronger emotions or more expresive gestures as a cultural thing for an African American. But I refuse to accept, that rude behaviour, inability to argue or explain oneself is a cultural thing too.

(Attempts to escape from the prisons of ignorance!) . . . How to inject the mind with immunization serum to face the volatile media climate? Too often this question suffers in agony in the search for a satisfactory answer in vain. There is still a long way to go before the steps of cultural and educational reform, and the modern generation is still unable to break out of the cocoon of childish platitudes, which do not fatten the mind in this time of damned cultural hunger. Were phones invented, for example, for the purpose of photographing cups of coffee, tea and foods, and placing those personal actions on social media pages, or do phones have different characteristics? Someone who falls under the roof of this cheap philosophy may jump to defend these childish practices and I will tell him there is nothing wrong with that, but only through purposeful ways and not through extravagance in trivialities. So, how can we restore minds to their old lofty positions, and how do we degrade modern absurdities in order to spare our children the ridicule of the coming time for this generation?? It is necessary to lift public education from the bottom of consciousness to the skies of ancient philosophy, and this will be represented in: The inclusion of new linguistic materials of high eloquence, deep grammar, and imagery. Creating a breathtaking environment through writing stories, novels, poetry and criticism in all its branches. - Inserting written expression exams for all subjects, as well as explaining to students via a loudspeaker, in order to create a speaking generation that is not shy, in order to bypass the complex of expression and dialogue. Allocating material prizes to the winners in the fields of writing, poetry, criticism, novel and story, especially expression and conversation. ALI SUROOR

This is funny! I went to a UC in CA, before affirmative action was ended, one day my professor came into the class extremely upset. Don’t know why. He made us read-out-loud a paragraph from the assigned book. There were two African American male students in the class. When their turn came to read the paragraph, hilarity ensued, they could not pronounce simple words, forget the complicated ones, the professor was continuously correcting them, a 75-word paragraph was finished in 5 minutes for both, they were reading like a 5yr olds. Everyone else in the class was just looking at one another - like what the hell is going on? This is an easy read. Everyone was shocked some were looking down or just staring at these two, with amazement in their eyes. I was shocked thinking how the hell did they get into this school? Well, during the break they left and never came back to the class again. Wow!!!!
